About Mount Meru
Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest peak at 4,566 meters (14,980 ft), located in Arusha National Park. Less crowded than Kilimanjaro, Meru is a rewarding trek through lush forests, crater rims, and rugged alpine landscapes.
Why Choose Mount Meru?
- Acclimatization: Excellent preparation for Kilimanjaro, especially for climbers adjusting to altitude.
- Wildlife Experience: Hike alongside giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, and birds in the park’s lower zones.
- Scenic Views: The crater rim and Socialist Peak offer epic sunrises over Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Fewer Crowds: Ideal for trekkers looking for a peaceful alternative to busier mountain routes.
